THE CALL OF GOD UPON OUR LIVES

The word of the Lord came to me, saying,

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,

 before you were born I set you apart;

I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

Jeremiah 1:4-5

Introduction:

  • Sometimes what we want to do with our life and what God wants to do with our life doesn’t tally

  • It is not God’s will for you to fall short of what God has called you to be.

1.  God Chose Us for His Work

  • When God chooses people for his work, He looks for young and ordinary people.

  • The Word of the Lord comes when you are not searching for Him.

  • God knew us and chose us even before we were born.

2.  God Consecrates Us for the Work

  • God has set us apart for a holy purpose.

  • Our life is consecrated to God. We are not the masters of our own destiny. We are bought at a price. We belong to God.

3.  God Commissions Us for the Work

  • The general commission for the church is to go into the world and preach the gospel.

  • Individually, God has commissioned us to a certain task to serve Him and fulfill that which He has put in our lives.

  • God calls us to do things we cannot do in our own strength, where we have to rely entirely on God, so only God gets the glory.

Conclusion:

What is Our Response?

  • Here I am, sent me.

  • Kneel in our heart, submit to the Lord.

  • Serve God with our whole life
