I set out during the night with a few others. I had not told anyone what my God had put in my heart to do for Jerusalem. There were no mounts with me except the one I was riding on…Then I said to them, “You see the trouble we are in: Jerusalem lies in ruins, and its gates have been burned with fire. Come, let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, and we will no longer be in disgrace.”

Nehemiah 2:12,17

Introduction:

  • Nehemiah prepared himself and the people to rise up and build.

  • God is a God of plans and preparations

  • Sometimes we are the answers to our own prays. As we pray, God gives us the burden and moves our hearts to take action.

Nehemiah had a Plan

  • If we have a plan but don’t prepare for it, nothing is going to happen.

  • To prepare means to make the plan stand

  • If you want the spirit of God to move in your life, spend time in the Word of God and prayer and He will begin to move in your heart.

  • As we move in the Spirit, we will be able to sense the right timing and be clothe in the favour of God to do His will.

Nehemiah had Ground Control

  • Nehemiah went to Jerusalem to inspect the wall. He needed to be on the ground to see the actual situation.

  • If you want to reach out to a place/community/people, you need to go the place itself and inspect the actual situation

Nehemiah had Courage

  • Preparation gives you courage to stand against opposition.

  • Nehemiah could handle opposition because he had conviction

Conclusion:

  • Through it all, God was with Nehemiah. Behind you stands a living God who feels and cares for you. More than that, He chose to live in you.

  • We need to prepare our mind, our hearts and our hands.

  • We can restore a missional community through God by His Spirit
